So apparently this is a thing. And it's not just available in an office by some certified professional, it can be done with good ol’ YouTube.
I stumbled upon these 'Sleep Hypnosis' or 'Sleep Programming' videos and was instantly intrigued.
A quick Google search and I learned that sleep programming videos are designed to help you achieve a deeper level of sleep and aid your subconscious in improving a specific aspect of your life such as love, anxiety, confidence, wealth etc.
Further intrigued.
So you mean to tell me I can just hit play on a video when I get in bed and wake up with the ability to attract money?!
UM, SIGN ME UP.
It was the greatest thing I'd ever heard of. Even if it was completely bogus it required zero time or energy. And it was FREE!
I was so excited to go to bed that night and give it a whirl.
I started looking through videos to choose from. There were TONS of them. They all seemed to have the same format. An 8 hour video (yes, that's right 8 HOURS) with spa music/nature sounds and a soft voice in the background whispering encouraging phrases.
I made my choice. A placed my iPhone on my nightstand and hit play. It started with the sounds of waves crashing and a man with a British accent came on giving cheese-ball affirmations in a hushed tone. If you know me then you know I LOVE British accents. I literally laughed at loud when his voice first said "You are a money magnet."
He continued to sporadically say things over the sounds of the ocean. "You are totally relaxed." "You are prosperous."
It was kind of ridiculous. And then I thought 'Shit, what if this is brainwashing me to just go out and buy some BS product or something?'
Oh well.. here goes nothing.

I fell asleep quickly (the nature sounds really were quite soothing!) and woke up feeling refreshed. I looked over and my cat, Darling was still sleeping next to my head.
I wondered if she got hypnotized also.
I was hoping to find a $100 check in the mail or something that day but alas, I guess the universe doesn't work that quickly.
I played the video every night that week. Nothing changed but I kept doing it.
And then..
I realized my WiFi had been turned off. And I did NOT have unlimited data.
EIGHT HOURS of YouTube videos FIVE nights in a row.
Listen to this tragic irony: I owed 300 freaking dollars in overage fees from listening to videos that were meant to make me money.
Here was my aha moment from this experience:
Invest in unlimited data. It is well worth it.
The next day I was shopping and found a 20 dollar bill in the parking lot.
Was this the result of my sleep hypnosis? I didn't care, I was over it.
I walked into the store, where I knew the manager and asked if she saw anyone walk out holding money. (Because Karma is a real thing, people!) She said no so I asked her to open her register to break the $20 so we could each take $10.
So in the end, my experiment with sleep hypnosis in order to attract money left me $290 in the hole.
Back to sleeping in silence for this girl.
